- Team / Airshow-Program / Photos -

In general:

The Red Arrows are the official aerobatics team of the ROyal Air Force since 1964 and by today they participated at more than 3000 airshows in 53 countries worldwide - sometimes at places you would not expect to see them, like Zimbabwe or Pakistan.

The squadron consists of 9 British Aerospace Hawk jets and 3 spare aircraft, based at RAF Scampton.

The display:

A great variation of formations, spectacular rolls and crossing manoeuvres are shown during their flying display and often the Red Arrows perform more than 70 times in one period, which lasts from May till October.

The team is able to fly 3 different displays depending on the weather situation, which are:

* Full Display: including all formations, and all flight manoeuvres

* Rolling Display: if the clouds are lower than 4000 feet, no loops are shown

* Flat Display: if the weather is bad only straight flypasts can be performed

During winter the Reds work out new manoeuvres on the island of Cyprus in the mediterrean sea for the next season.

PHOTOS:

The following images nearly include the whole display of the team. Most of them were taken at the RIAT and Malta International Airshow 2002:
